{"id":105,"date":"2005-09-07T10:32:03","date_gmt":"2005-09-07T00:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.davidandkiyomi.com\/bloodandsoil\/2005\/09\/07\/getting-it-together\/"},"modified":"2023-08-22T15:43:52","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T05:43:52","slug":"getting-it-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidandkiyomi.com\/bloodandsoil\/2005\/09\/07\/getting-it-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting it together."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I see today that Samsung is planning on releasing a dual DVD player (See: <a href=\"http:\/\/australianit.news.com.au\/articles\/0,7204,16520766%5E15321%5E%5Enbv%5E,00.html\">Samsung plans dual DVD player<\/a>) which&#8217;ll not only play BluRay Discs but HD-DVD ones too.<\/p>\n<p>While it&#8217;s good that (some) hardware manufactures are providing a \u201csolution\u201d that will enable consumers to play both BluRay (BR) and HD-DVD (HD), it\u2019d be far better if the backers of both BR and HD were to get it together and produce one unified final format. Not only would it save a tonne of confusion in the retail market (with some customers who don\u2019t care\/know about BR this or HD that and just want a player to play their high definition discs and then when they get it home they fine out half of their collection cannot be played because it\u2019s 50\/50 BR\/HD) it\u2019d also be cheaper for everyone in the long run.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; David<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I see today that Samsung is planning on releasing a dual DVD player (See: Samsung plans dual DVD player) which&#8217;ll not only play BluRay Discs but HD-DVD ones too.
