Today is 天皇誕生日 (Tenno no tanjobi) or (Japanese) Emperor’s Birthday holiday. This holiday changes with each different Emperor as each Emperor has a different birthday (how about that?) 🙂
So what did we do today? Well we got up early to buy some more paint for the office (which is nearly done), painted the office, ate lunch, went out after lunch to buy some tape, went to the bank to withdraw some money only to find it was closed!
Same with the ATMs!
Ack! We forgot – today is the Emperor’s Birthday – so there was one thing that was different from any other day in Japan.
