You learn something every day. Today I found out that the Shinkansen travels through Okazaki (岡崎市) — there’s tracks and all – I even saw them travelling along the tracks at their breakneck speed.
Why didn’t I know of this before? Well the line is not in the centre of town, it’s, how shall I say this? Out a wee bit (in the sticks), and there’s no station. Okazaki was being considered for a station but a neighbouring city, Anjo, got that. So all we have here is some tracks way out in the sticks. Still it puts Okazaki on the map.
